Three 7th Grade Girls Squads Headed to State

Three area girls seventh grade basketball teams are headed to the state tournaments.

In Class 1A, Sigel St. Michael defeated Danville Schlarman 37-8 to win the St. Michael Sectional.

In Class 3A, Teutopolis defeated Marshall 26-13 to win the Cumberland Sectional.

In Class 4A, Effingham defeated Mahomet-Seymour 23-18 in overtime to win the Effingham Sectional.

In the 2A Sectional at St. Anthony, Stewardson-Strasburg did not advance to State, falling to Albion 27-21.

For Stew-Stras: Hayes 9, Wittenberg 8, VonBehrens 3, Garrett 1. The Stewardson-Strasburg squad finished their season with a 15-8 record.

St. Michael will play in the 1A State Tournament at Central A&M Middle School in Assumption. Game time is 10am Saturday vs. Ashland A-C Central. If St. Michael's wins, they will play in the semifinal game at 5pm Saturday.

Teutopolis will play in the 3A State Tournament at Auburn High School. Game time is 2:30pm Saturday vs. Lockport Kelvin Grove. If Teutopolis wins, they will play in the semifinal game at 6:30pm Saturday.

For Teutopolis in the Sectional win: Anna Probst 12, Chloe Probst 8, Kelsey Niemerg 4, Mollie Ruholl 2. Teutopolis is now 18-8 on the season.

Effingham will play in the 4A State Tournament at Bolingbrook Brooks Middle School. Game time is 11:30am Saturday vs. Canton Ingersoll. If Effingham wins, they will play in the semifinal game at 5pm Saturday.

For Effingham in the Sectional win: Beals 8, Althoff 5, Donaldson 4, Thompson 4, Armstrong 2. Effingham is now 17-3 on the season.

The third place and championship games are set for Thursday, December 12.
