Effingham St. Anthony claimed two victories over Vandalia in junior high boys basketball action Tuesday.

The Bullpups picked up a 40-27 win in seventh-grade action. St .Anthony held a 22-12 halftime lead. Ryan Schmidt tallied 20 for the winners.

In eighth-grade play, St. Anthony won 44-21. Roepke led the way in scoring with eight while Ludwig and Frisbie chipped in with seven each.

At Mattoon

Effingham played Mattoon in B competition and split victories Tuesday.

Mattoon claimed the seventh-grade game, 29-16. McBride led the Mustangs with eight points.

In eighth-grade action, Effingham won 42-8. Ellis scored 11 while Pals added nine for the winners.

At Kinmundy

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City came calling at South Central and downed the homestanders in both games Tuesday.

CHBC won the seventh-grade contest, 28-18, taking an 18-11 first half  AJ Radloff tallied 11 for the winners.

South Central was led by Smith with six points.

In eighth-grade play, CHBC was a 46-32 winner. CHBC had a 27-15 first half. Three players hit double figures. Gage Lorton had 15, Carson Evans 11 and Clayton Wojcik 10.

At Sigel

Sigel St. Michael and Jasper County split contests Tuesday evening.

The Sharpshooters won the seventh-grade game, 42-8. St. Michael led 26-0 at halftime. Croy led St. Michael with 12 points and Fearday tallied 10.

Hetzer led Jasper County with three.

In the eighth-grade, Jasper County edged St. Michael, 65-60 in overtime. Jasper County led 26-20 at halftime, but St. Michael came back to tie the score at 55-55 sending the game into overtime.

Jasper County was led by Wolf with 30 points, Nichols with 14 and Fehrenbacher with 10.

St. Michael was led by B. Fearday with 16 and Niebrugge with 16.

At Teutopolis

Teutopolis downed Robinson Nuttall in both seventh and eighth grade games Tuesday.

The Wooden Shoes won the seventh-grade game, 35-27. Nuttall held a 15-14 halftime lead but T-town had an 11-5 third quarter run and outscored Nuttall 12-7 in the final period.

Brody Thoele led with 11 points while Luke Niemerg tallied 10.

In eighth-grade action, T-town was a 41-20 winner. T-town ripped out to a 17-8 opening quarter lead and maintained control the rest of the way.

Mtich Koester and Ethan R. Thoele scored seven each for the Shoes.

Stewardson-Strasburg split wins with Sullivan Tuesday evening.

The seventh-graders picked up a 43-39 win. Gurgel tallied 26 while Ben Bridges added nine as Stew-Stras improved to 7-2.

In the eighth-grade contest, Sullivan wasa  40-11 winner. Sullivan led 22-6 at halftime and held Stew-Stras scoreless in the third quarter.

Manhart led Stew-Stras with four as the squad dropped to 2-7.
