COWDEN -- Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City played host to Effingham Sacred Heart and claimed two junior high boys basketball victories Monday.

 

In seventh-grade competition, CHBC edged Sacred Heart, 39-34. CHBC held a 10-2 opening quarter lead and never looked back.

CHBC was led by AJ Radloff with 12 points. The Shamrocks were led by A. Borries with 11.

In eighth-grade play, CHBC nabbed a 45-34 victory. Leading 25-17 at halftime, CHBC went on for a 13-8 third period.

Carson Evans led the way with 17 points for CHBC. The Shamrocks were led by Biggs with 24 points.

At Brownstown

St. Elmo/Brownstown and North Clay (Louisville) split victories Monday evening.

North Clay captured the seventh-grade game, 41-20. North Clay decided the game early with a 28-10 opening quarter. Neither team scored in the second period.

North Clay was led by L. Groves with 17 points. St. Elmo/Brownstown was led by Wilhour with 12 points.

In the eighth-grade contest, St. Elmo/Brownstown picked up a 36-28 victory. The opening quarter was again the catalyst, only this time for SEB as it took a 11-4 lead.

Atwood taliled nine while J. Maxey had eight and C. Maxey seven for the winners. North Clay was led by Kuenstler and L. Groves with seven each.

At Casey

Jasper County fell twice to Casey-Westfield in action Monday.

Casey-Westfield won the seventh-grade game, 46-12. Barthelme scored six points for Jasper County.

In eighth-grade action, Casey-Westfield stepped out to a 20-12 opening quarter lead and went on for a 61-32 win.

Wolf led Jasper County with 10 points.
