CHARLESTON -- Top-seeded Effingham Junior High School tallied a 42-15 win over Mount Zion in the Class 7-4A Charleston Girls Basketball Regional Monday.
Effingham zipped out to a 17-2 opening quarter lead and that was the game.
The Mustangs were led by three players in double figures. Althoff and Donaldson tallied 12 each while Beals added 11.
Charleston faced Mattoon in the second game but no score was reported.
Effingham will face either Charleston or Mattoon for the regional championship today at 6 p.m.

Class 7-1A Martinsville Regional
Sigel St. Michael and Martinsville will be squaring off for the championship of the Martinsville Regional after picking up wins Monday.
St. Michael downed Effingham Sacred Heart, 34-4 while Martinsville was a 21-6 winner over Oakland Lake Crest.
St. Michael and Martinsville meet for the regional title at 5 p.m. today.
Class 7-2A St. Anthony Regional
Stewardson-Strasburg won the first game of the evening over Neoga in the St. Anthony Regional Monday.
Stew-Stras claimed a 30-17 victory.
In the second game, St. Anthony handed Cowden-Herrick a 36-16 loss. The Bullpups held a 6-2 opening quarter and pushed that to 20-4 at halftime.
A. Soltwedel led St. Anthony with 14 points. CHBC was led by Ellie Miller with seven. CHBC ends the season at 9-11.
St. Anthony will square off against Stewarsdon-Strasburg Wednesday at 6 p.m. for the regional championship.

Class 7-3A Teutopolis Regional
Teutopolis,seeded fourth, moved into the championship game of its own regional by edging top-seeded Lawrenceville, 32-30 Monday evening.
The Wooden Shoes trailed Lawrenceville 6-4 after the opening quarter and 17-12 at halftime. T-town started its comeback with an 11-7 third period run to pull within 24-23. Then in the final quarter, T-town had a 9-6 lead for the two-point victory.
Chloe Probst tallied 11 points while Mollie Ruholl added 10 for the Shoes.
In the second contest, Altamont took the first quarter lead on Jasper County but the score was tied at 10-10 at halftime. Altamont moved ahead 17-12 going into the final quarter. Jasper County came roaring back only to fall short, 27-26.
Altamont now takes on Teutopolis at 6 p.m. today for the regional championship.
