OLNEY -- Effingham St. Anthony traveled to Olney and fell twice in girls junior high school basketball Thursday.
The homestanders took the seventh-grade contest, 28-11. Olney edged ahead 5-4 in the opening quarter then held a 12-7 halftime lead. Olney had a 16-4 second half.
St. Anthony was led by Kabbes with six points.
In eighth-grade play, Olney jumped out to a 16-6 opening quarter and never looked back in a 43-29 win.
St. Anthony was led by M. Kibler with 15 points.

At Summersville
Effingham's seventh-grade squad competed in the Summersville Shootout and fell against the Centralia eighth-grade squad, 47-38 Thursday.
Centralia edged out to a 10-9 opening quarter lead then took off with a 17-9 second period to lead 27-18 at halftime.
The Mustangs were led by Althoff with 17 and Beals with 10.
In eighth-grade action, Effingham downed Woodlawn, 41-24. The Mustangs ran off to a 16-2 opening quarter lead.
Izzy Volpi scored 12 and Reagan Boone 10.

At Beecher City
Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City edged Brownstown/St. Elmo, 19-18 in seventh-grade girls action Thursday.
The two teams were tied at 2-2 after the first quarter and CHBC moved ahead 9-4 at halftime. BSE had a 14-10 second half only to fall a point short.
CHBC was led by Macee Rodman with 10 points as the squad improved to 5-3 in the National Trail Conference, 9-8 overall.
BSE was led by G. Durbin with six points.
In the eighth-grade contest, it was BSE's turn to pull out a close win, 33-31. BSE edged ahead 9-8 in the opening quarter and led 16-14 at halftime. CHBC had a big 11-2 third period but BSE came roaring back with a 15-6 final period to pull out the victory.
Seabaugh scored 13 and Ireland 10 for the winners.
CHBC was led by Ruby Stuckemeyer with 13 and Shae Nohren with 11 as the squad fell to 2-6 in the conference, 8-10 overall.
