Both Teutopolis teams scored in the 40's to hand Effingham two junior high boys basketball losses Thursday evening.

In the seventh-grade contest, the Wooden Shoes picked up a 42-18 win. The two teams were tied in the opening quarter before T-town moved ahead 15-11 at halftime. T-town then put the game away with a 19-5 third period run.

Alex Kremer and Luke Niemerg led the way for the Shoes with nine points each.

Efifngham was led by Pals with five.

In eighth-grade competition, T-town decided this game early with a 23-4 opening half. The Shoes weer led by Eli Hanson with 14 points as 11 players scored in the game.

Effingham was led by Raddatz with 10.

At St. Anthony

Effingham St. Anthony claimed two victories over visiting Newton St. Thomas Thursday evening.

St. Anthony held St. Thomas scoreless in the opening quarter of the seventh-grade contest and went on for a 37-6 victory.

Nine players scored for the Bullpups led by JC Trupiano with 12. Blake led St. Thomas with four.

In eighth-grade action, the Bullpups trailed St. Thomas 7-6 after the opening quarter of the seventh-grade game and 13-11 at halftime.

St. Anthony then pulled within a point going into the final quarter and finished out strong with a 10-2 run for a 27-22 victory.

Koenig led the way for the Bullpups with 12.

St. Thomas was led by Ochs, Weber and Gier with four points each.

At Cowden

Stewardson-Strasburg and Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City split victories Thursday.

Stew-Stras was a 55-38 winner in seventh-grade action. Stew-Stras led 28-24 at halftime then had a 27-14 second half.

Stew-Stras, who improved to 2-0 in the National Trail Conference and 4-1 overall, had two players in double figures as Gurgel scored 16 and Morris 15. CHBC was led by Radloff with nine.

In eighth-grade play, CHBC leaped out to a 20-10 opening half and held Stew-Stras scoreless in the final period for a 40-13 win.

CHBC had two players with 10 points each in Lorton and Wojcik. Evans added nine points.

Stew-Stras was led by Manhart with four. Stew-Stras dropped to 0-2 in the NTC, 0-3 overall.
