STRASBURG -- Stewardson-Strasburg High School claimed a National Trail Conference boys basketball victory over Neoga 56-43 Tuesday evening.

The Comets edged out to a 14-11 opening quarter lead and led 31-22 at halftime. Brandon Helmuth nailed three trifectas by halftime and had 11 points. Stew-Stras led 42-32 going into the final period.

Justin Fulk tallied 17 for the winners while Helmuth had 11 and Jason Becker 10.

Neoga was led by Jake Baker with 16 points and Wyatt Krikie with 13.

Brady Barnes, a 6-foot-1 junior, guided Beecher City to a 58-43 National Trail Conference victory over Windsor.

Barnes nailed 12 field goals and two free throws for 26 points. Doug Krueger scored 16. The Eagles trailed Windsor 12-6 after the opening quarter but knotted the score at 19-19 at halftime. Beecher City then outscored Windsor 39-24 in the second half.

Windsor was led by Alex Allen with 15 and Trey Leasher with 10.

Oblong came from behind, outscoring Dieterich 23-17 in the final quarter to pull out a 58-57 non-conference victory.

Oblong held a 13-12 opening quarter lead and led 26-21 at halftime. But the Maroons came roaring back with a 19-9 third period run to lead 40-35 going into the final period. Oblong then had its final quarter run.

Johnson led Oblong with 21 points while Meese and Mehler added 10 each. Dieterich was led by Dalton Hinterscher with 19 points while Jake Bohnhoff had 11 and Devin Aherin 10.

Brownstown bounced Mulberry Grove 80-51. The Bombers leaped out to a 15-4 opening quarter lead and never looked back.

Seniors Matt Sefton and Austin Hunter provided the one-two scoring punch with 24 points each. Jacob Behrends chipped in with 16 and Curt Frailey added 10.

The Bombers improve to 10-14 on the season.

The Eagles stepped out to a 27-7 opening quarter lead and led 38-8 at halftime. Connor Beasley tallied 22 to lead St. Elmo while Garrett Bartels scored 16.

Noble was led by Kinkade with 11.

The Warriors held a 35-24 halftime lead and led 61-42 going into the final quarter. Matt McCown tallied 29 points, 11 in the second quarter and nine in the third period. Brandon Wolfe scored 19 and Trivette Scales 10.

Cumberland was led by Colton Ingram and Monte Wolke with 12 each and Trevor Brumleve with 11.

Three players hit double digits for the Cougars. Rudy Hablewitz, a 5-foot-11 senior, led the winners with 14 points. Also in double figures were Fischer Tharp and Austin Schwarm with 11 each. The Cougars improve to 10-16 overall.
