St. Anthony Picks Up Opening Victory at Neoga F/S Tourney

NEOGA -- Effingham St. Anthony handed Stewardson-Strasburg a 50-42 loss as opening round play continued at the Neoga Freshman/Sophomore Boys Basketball Tournament Thursday evening.
St. Anthony took a 28-18 halftime lead then had to hold off Stew-Stras in the second half to pull out the victory. Grunloh tallied 17 and Jeff Niebrugge 14 in the victory. Grunloh had 10 rebounds and Niebrugge six. Stew-Stras was led by Jones with 17.
In the second game Thursday evening, Altamont defeated Cumberland 57-41.
The tournament continues Saturday with Teutopolis facing Dieterich at 10 a.m. followed by St. Anthony taking on Altamont around 11:30 a.m. The two winners advance to the championship game Monday at 7:30 p.m. with the losers squaring off for third place at 6:15 p.m.
