Lady Bulldogs Win on Senior Night

The St. Anthony Lady Bulldogs closed out their regular season on a high note Thursday, winning on Senior Night at the Enlow Center.
St. Anthony won over Brownstown/St. Elmo 51-27 in a game heard on KJ Country 102.3 and www.kjcountry.com.
It was a close game early as the contest was tied 9-9 after one quarter. St. Anthony cleaned up some early turnover problems, though, and started scoring more frequently as a result. The Bulldogs led the contest 19-13 at halftime and 37-25 after three quarters before outscoring the Bombers 14-2 in the fourth quarter.
St. Anthony made 18 of 46 shots from the field for 39%, but hit 10 of 18 in the second half. The Bulldogs made 13 of 19 foul shots, turned the ball over 12 times, grabbed 28 rebounds and made two of six three-point shots.
Brownstown/St. Elmo hit just nine of 37 shots for 24% and made seven of 12 foul shots. The Bombers turned the ball over 18 times and pulled down 24 rebounds while making two of six three-point tries.
Kate Richards scored 13 for St. Anthony to lead all scorers and grabbed six rebounds. The lone senior for either team, St. Anthony's Melissa Bushur scored nine points. Also for St. Anthony: Makayla Walsh had eight points, Megan Nuxoll scored seven points and pulled down eight rebounds, Lexie Niebrugge, Lauren Wendt and Abby Brown each scored four points, and Morgan Gardewine scored two points.
Audriana Pruett scored nine points to lead Brownstown/St. Elmo, who closed out the regular season with a 7-15 record. Molly Hill scored six points, Bethany Oberlink and Emily Bone four points each, and Dani Austin and Kyrstyn Fitch two points apiece.
St. Anthony ends the regular season with an 18-10 record and heads into regional play Wednesday night at Neoga against Neoga, playing the Lady Indians for the fourth time this season.
