Newton Finishes Second at LIC Tournament

Casey-Westfield took an early lead and went on to down Newton 74-61 to win the Little Illini Conference Boys Basketball Tournament Saturday.

The Warriors held a 17-7 opening quarter lead and led 34-23 at halftime. Newton came back in the third quarter with a slight 17-16 edge but Casey-Westfield went out at 24-21.

Newton hit 19 of 45 field goals and four of 11 from three-point range. The Eagles were 11 of 16 at the line. Casey-Westfield hit 25 of 35 field goals and five of 15 from three-point range. The Warriors were nine of 14 at the line.

Luke Stone led Newton with 19 points while Dylan Davidson added 12 and Keith Butler 12. T. Scales led Casey-Westfield with 20 points while B. Wolfe added 18 and M. McCown 15.
