Class 8-1A Effingham Sacred Heart Regional

In opening round play at the Effingham Sacred Heart Regional Saturday, Windsor and Stewardson-Strasburg picked up victories.

In the opener, Windsor edged Beecher City 32-27. Windsor jumped out to a 13-2 opening quarter lead and led 18-11 at halftime. The score was tied at 23-23 in the third quarter. Windsor then had a 9-4 final period run.

Windsor was led by Hutchinson with 19 points. Strauch led Beecher City with 14.

In the second game, Stewardson-Strasburg downed Dieterich 52-37. Stew-Stras held a 33-13 halftime lead and never looked back.

Moschenrose tallied 20, Overbeck 15 and Vonderheide 12 for the winners. Dieterich was led by Thoele with 15 and McClain with 12.

In today's games, Sigel St. Michael meets Windsor at 6 p.m. and Effingham Sacred Heart takes on Stew-Stras at 7:15 p.m.

Class 8-1A Palestine Regional

There was one game contested Saturday in the Palestine Regional. Martinsville ended Newton St. Thomas' season. Martinsville won 35-15 and advances to meet Kansas at 6 p.m. today. In the second game today, Hutsonville takes on host Palestine at 7:15 p.m.

Class 8-2A Effingham St. Anthony Regional

Paris Crestwood picked up the lone victory at the St. Anthony Regional Saturday.

Parist Crestwood won over Neoga 56-22 and now advances to meet Arcola at 6 p.m. today. In the second game, St. Anthony takes on Oblong at 7:15 p.m.

Class 8-3A Robinson Nuttall Regional

Three games were contested Saturday in the Robinson Nuttall Regional. In the opener, Casey-Westfield defeated Lawrenceville Parkview 28-17.

In the second game, Robinson Nuttall won over Cumberland 46-22. The final contest went to Jasper County over Red Hill (Bridgeport) 41-31.

Today's games include Casey-Westfield against Marshall at 6 p.m. and Jasper County facing Robinson Nuttall at 7:30 p.m.

Class 8-3A Pana Regional

Three games took place in the Pana Regional Saturday. In the opener, Teutopolis trounced Sullivan, 65-8.

T-town stepped out to a 25-0 opening quarter lead and led 43-5 at halftime. Lucas Deters was the lone player in double figures with 14. Jason Kenter chipped in with eight and eight other players scored in the contest. T-town will now face Assumption Central A&M at 6 p.m. today.

In the second game, Assumption Central A&M defeated Blue Mound Meridian 42-33. Pana then won over Atthur 46-18.

In the final game, St. Elmo/Brownstown fell to Shelbyville Moulton 33-23. St. Elmo/Brownstown took a 10-5 opening quarter lead and led 15-11 at halftime. Shelbyville Moulton then had a 5-0 third quarter run to lead 16-15 going into the final period. The winners then outdistanced St. Elmo/Brownstown 17-8 in the final period.

Moulton was led by K. Plummer with nine points. St. Elmo/Brownstown was led by Feezel with 12 and Austin with seven.

Shelbyville Moulton takes on Pana at 7:30 p.m. today.
