Aaron Rios has been named the girls varsity basketball coach at St. Anthony High School.

Rios will succeed Bart Wiedman, who stepped down after this past season to spend more time with his wife and family.

Rios has previous experience coaching girls basketball in Burlington, Iowa. He is a graduate of Iowa Wesleyan University, where he played basketball and received a degree in Business Administration, Management and Finance. He also earned a MBA in Strategic Leadership from Dakota Wesleyan University.

Rios is employed at Midland States Bank as Head of Operations. He and wife Stacey, along with their three children, have lived in Effingham for four years.

In accepting the job, Rios said, "I want to thank Principal Fearday, Athletic Director Kevin Palmer, Father Chuck and the entire SAHS admnistration for this outstanding opportunity. I feel we have a great group of Student Athletes that are coming back and joining the program for the up and coming season. I can't wait to get started in the spring and summer. It is truly an honor to be part of Bulldog Nation."
