The Lincoln Land Loggers continued conference play as the Danville Community College Jaguars visited Cass Gymnasium. The first half could only be described as "ugly" for the Loggers. They gave up a season high 42 points in the first half, were out-rebounded, shot only 38% from the field and had 9 turnovers. The Jaguars came out hitting on all cylinders and shot 62% from the field and after a long three at the buzzer the Jaguars raced out to a 42-25 half time lead.
The second half was a different story. The Loggers came out with a fire and a passion that was not there in the first half. After a bucket by Bryan Bridges the score was tied 52 with 5:18 left. However, the Loggers ran out of gas down the stretch as the Jaguars closed on a 12-6 run. The final buzzer sounded with Danville on top of Lincoln Land 64-58.
Still without their starting point guard, the Loggers got a great effort from Effingham High School graduate Jeremy Wohltman put in a career high 21 points, 12 of which came in the second half. He also had four rebounds. Bryan Bridges chipped in with 15 and a team high eight rebounds. St. Anthony graduate Reed Willenborg had seven points and three rebounds.
"We now know if we give the effort we did in the second half for a full 40 minutes we can be in great shape to win a lot of games." added Coach Chad Jones following the game.
The Loggers fall to 12-7 (0-2 in the conference) and travel to Lincoln College to take on their conference rival Lynx.
