LINCOLN -- Lincoln High School edged Effingham, 62-61 in Apollo Conference boys basketball competition Friday.
Lincoln stepped out to a 20-15 opening quarter lead and led 38-31 at halftime. Lincoln led 53-43 going into the final quarter. The Hearts mounted a comeback with an 18-9 run only to fall short.
Landon Wolfe tallied 28 points for the Hearts while Parker Wolfe chipped in with 16. EHS had 10 three-pointers in the game, four by P. Wolfe and three by L. Wolfe.
Effingham captured the junior varsity game, 47-45.

At St. Elmo
Altamont High School handed St. Elmo/Brownstown a 59-47 loss in National Trail Conference action Friday.
The Indians took a 20-12 opening quarter lead and finished out with a 16-7 final period. In the second half, Altamont connected on only three field goals but hit 17 of 23 free throws.
Alek Biggs tallied 22 points for the winners with five field goals that included one three-pointer and 11 of 14 at the line while Aidan Jahraus scored 12 and Denver Duckwitz added 10.
SEB was led by Nate Philpot with 10.

Cumberland picked up a 59-50 win over Tri-County in competition Friday.
The two teams played to a 16-16 opening quarter tie before the Pirates edged ahead 23-22 at halftime. Tri-County came back with a 16-12 third period before Cumberland finished strong with a 21-12 final quarter.
Zach Wolke, a senior, led the way for Cumberland with 23 points.

Mulberry Grove played host to South Central Friday and captured a 53-48 victory.
The Aces ripped out to a 17-8 opening quarter lead but South Central pulled back within 35-30 going into the final period. Both teams scored 18 points.
Logan Lotz tallied 16 points for the Cougars while Daniel Roberts chipped in with 13.

Olney claimed a 62-49 win over Newton Friday evening.
The Tigers took off to a 21-9 opening quarter lead and never looked back in this one.
Newton had two players finish in double figures. Kyle Schafer, a 6-foot-1 junior, led the way with 18 while Zak Finn chipped in with 13.
Olney improves to 7-1 in the Little Illini Conference and 21-4 overall.

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg edged Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City, 66-61 in overtime Friday evening.
WSS took a 19-18 openinguqarter lead and led 35-30 at halftime. CHBC came back with a 17-12 run to tie the score at 37-37 going into the final period. Both teams tallied 12 sending the game into overtime where WSS took control with a 7-2 run.
Gavin Wernsing led the way for the Hatchets with 20 points while Beau Bennett added 18. WSS is now 4-3 in the National TrailConference, 15-13 overall.
CHBC was led by three players in double Figures led by Dylan Webster with 25. Trace Smith added 12 and Nick Miller 11. CHBC drops to -7 in the conference, 4-22 overall.
