ALTAMONT -- Altamont High School improved to 25-3 on the season with a 68-52 non-conference girls basketball win over Tuscola Tuesday evening.

The Indians edged out to a 14-13 first quarter lead but Tuscola came back with a 23-16 second period run and pulled ahead 36-30 at halftime.

Altamont made some adjustments, came out in the third period and put the game away with a 21-3 run. Brooke Runge hit two three-pointers and a regular basket in the quarter for eight points.

Runge finished with 16 to lead the Indians. She hit four three-pointers. Also in double figures were Leah Mayhaus with 15 and Mary Guse with 13.

At Cowden

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City swept out to an early lead and never looked back in a 54-24 non-conference win over Sandoval/Odin Tuesday evening.

The big news of the evening was Jaelyn Robertson going over 1,000 points for her career. The 5-foot-7 junior needed just seven points and finished with 21 to lead the Bobcats.

CHBC held a 14-2 first period lead and led 36-11 at halftime.

Robertson hit eight field goals and was five of five at the line. Tabitha Endsley led in rebounds with seven and had two assists and two steals. Kylee Bertin had two assists and five steals.

At Dieterich

Martinsville came calling and captured a 74-66 win over Dieterich in non-conference action Tuesday.

The Bluestreaks took a 21-18 opening quarter lead but led by only a point at halftime. Martinsville then had a 24-15 third quarter run.

Two players scored in double figures for the Maroons. Jenny Robards led the way with 36 points. She hit seven three-pointers in the game. Andrea Bierman tallied 13.
