NEOGA -- Neoga High School captured a 71-61 overtime victory over National Trail Conference opponent North Clay (Louisville) Tuesday evening.

North Clay took an 11-9 opening quarter lead but Levi Peters went on a scoring binge in the second period to push the Indians into a 21-17 halftime lead. Peters connected on four field goals for eight points.

The Cardinals came back with an 18-16 third period to pull within two going into the final quarter.

In that final quarter, Neoga's Reece Johnson nailed a three-pointer and connected on three free throws while Mitchell Cornell hit three two-pointers and two free throws and Trevor Roy added a bucket and three free throws but still came up short.

North Clay hit 11 free throws in the final quarter and the score stood at 56-56 sending the game into overtime.

In the overtime session, the Indians nailed two baskets then took advantage from the free throw line. Johnson hit five of six and Cornell was six of seven to pull out the victory.

Four players scored in double figures for Neoga. Cornell tallied 21 followed by Johnson with 19, Roy with 16 and Peters with 12.

North Clay was led by Aleon Rinehart with 17 and Tyson Jones with 17.

At Flora

Altamont was even in the opening half against Flora, scoring 11 points in each to lead 22-19. The Indians then cut loose with a 21-8 third period and went on for a 55-47 non-conference win.

Aidan Jahraus tallied six points by halftime then found the range in the third quarter, knocking in three trifectas, two regular baskets and two free throws for 15 points. He finished with 25 for the game.

Also in double figures for the Indians were Alek Biggs with 15 and Denver Duckwitz with 10. Altamont is now 14-10 on the season.

Cumberland played host to Robinson and captured a 69-63 victory Tuesday evening.

Robinson edged out to a 16-14 opening quarter lead and led 31-29 at halftime. The Maroons continued to lead at 48-46 going into the final quarter.

That's when the Pirates struck. Brennyn Cutts, a sophomore, banged home two three-pointers and two regular baskets for 10 points while Wyatt Napier scored six. Zach Wolke nailed seven of eight from the free throw line.

Wolke finished with 23 while Cutts added 21 and Napier 18 for the winners.

St. Elmo/Brownstown played host to National Trail Conference opponent Dieterich and picked up a 63-51 victory Tuesday evening.

SEB stepped out to a 20-17 opening quarter lead and led 29-19 at halftime.

The Eagles hit 56 percent from the field while Dieterich hit only 39 percent. The Eagles were 50% from three-point range and 64 percent at the line with 16 of 25.

SEB was led by Nate Philpot with 19, Jacob Baron with 13 and Bryton Pruett with 10. Andy Goldsborough pulled down eight rebounds while Baron had seven. Pruett led in assists with four and had two steals. Baron had four blocked shots. SEB improved to 14-10.

Dieterich was led by Derek Kuhl with 17, Collin Hartke with 10 and Austin Einhorn with 10. Kuhl led in rebounds with eight while Evan Bohnhoff had six. Hartke led in assists with seven.

At St. Elmo

Teutopolis' Clint Weber led the Wooden Shoes to a 66-44 victory over Newton Tuesday evening.

Weber, a 6-foot-7 junior, hit nine field goals, that included a three-pointer, and was seven of 12 at the line for 26 points. Dawson Smith chipped in with 16 points.

The Shoes held a 27-24 halftime lead then had an 18-3 third period run.

Newton was led by Justin Zumbahlen witth seven points.

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg fell to Pana in action Tuesday evening, 53-44.

The Hatchets held a 9-8 opening quarter lead but Pana took a 27-25 lead at halftime then had a 26-19 second half.

Beau Bennett led the Hatchets with 10 points. WSS drops to 13-12 on the season. Pana improves to 10-14.

Pana claimed the junior varsity game, 58-28.
