They got the seeds right.

It'll be #1 vs #2 for the championship of the 84th Annual National Trail Conference boys basketball tournament. The Altamont Indians defeated the Dieterich Movin Maroons 64-54 Friday night to move into the title game against top-seeded St. Anthony. Game time is 7:30pm tonight.

Neoga defeated South Central 32-27 in the other Friday night contest.

The pairings are now set for Saturday, the final day of this year's tournament. At 11:30am, South Central will play Windsor/Stew-Stras in the 7th place game; at 1pm, Neoga will take on St. Elmo/Brownstown for the consolation championship; and at 2:30pm, North Clay will take on Dieterich for 3rd place honors.

We will have all four Saturday games on 979XFM and www.979xfm.com and will live video stream all four games on our YouTube channel.

ALTAMONT 64, DIETERICH 54

Altamont trailed by one point at the start, but never fell behind again. It got interesting, though, throughout the game.

The Indians made eight of 12 first quarter shots and led 19-12 at the end of the period. The Maroons, though, bounced back to outscore Altamont 14-11 in the second quarter to move within 30-26 at halftime. A 16-16 third quarter left it a four-point game, 46-42.

Dieterich fell behind by as many as 10 points before finally coming back to tie the game. The rally ended there, though, as Altamont was quickly back up by five points and outscored Dieterich 18-12 in the final period to win the game by 10 points.

Altamont had a great shooting night, hitting 58% of its shots, 25 of 43, including 4 of 14 threes. The Indians made 10 of 16 foul shots, turned the ball over 16 times and grabbed 20 rebounds.

Dieterich shot 39% from the field, 21 of 54, including 2 of 12 threes. The Movin Maroons were 10 of 14 from the line, turned the ball over 22 times, and pulled down 28 rebounds.

Aiden Jahraus led Altamont, and all scorers, with 24 points on 9 of 13 shooting. Alek Biggs had four points at halftime, but finished with 18. Denver Duckwitz was also in double figures with 11 points and took three charges. Noah Teasley scored 9 points and Kaden Eirhart added 2 points.

Collin Hartke and Derek Kuhl shared scoring honors for Dieterich with 13 points apiece. Cole Niebrugge scored 9, Evan Bohnhoff and Matthew Hunzinger 8 each, Seth Bohnhoff 2, and Bryce Budde 1.
