Junior High Regional Results From January 19; Area Results

Junior high school boys seventh-grade basketball regionals got underway Saturday across the state. Here are the results:

Class 7-1A Palestine Regional

Newton St. Thomas saw its season come to an end at the hands of Hutsonville. Hutsonville claimed the victory 31-15. Hutsonville now faces Palestine at 6 p.m. today. In the second game today, Martinsville takes on Kansas at 7:15 p.m.

Class 7-2A Effingham St. Anthony Regional

There was one game contest Saturday. Neoga bounced Oblong 45-22. Neoga will now face Paris Crestwood at 6 p.m. today. In the second game today, St. Anthony faces  Arcola at 7:15 p.m.

Class 7-3A Casey-Westfield Regional

Host Casey-Westfield advanced from its own regional by defeated Jasper County 37-25. In the second contest, Red Hill (Bridgeport) won over Cumberland 46-22. The third game went to Robinson Nuttall over Lawrenceville Parkview 37-21.

The regional continues Tuesday with Marshall against  Casey-Westfield at 6 p.m. followed by Red Hill taking on Robinson Nuttall at 7:30.

Class 7-4A Charleston Regional

Host Charleston advanced in its own regional. Charleston defeated Danville South View 50-21. Charleston will now meet Danville North Ridge at 6 p.m. today.

In the second contest, Urbana beat Mattoon 43-12. Urbana will now take on Effingham today at 7:30 p.m.

At Beecher City

Altamont Lutheran came calling Friday evening and handed Beecher City two losses.

In seventh-grade play, Altamont Lutheran claimed a 30-19 victory. Laatsch and Kline tallied six for the winners. Stoldt led Beecher City with seven.

In eighth-grade action, Altamont Lutheran edged Beecher City 37-33. Whitt scored 17 and Kopplin 12 for the winners. Grove had 18 and Strauch 11 for Beecher City.
