OLNEY -- Effingham St. Anthony split victories in freshman and sophomore boys basketball action Thursday.

The Bulldogs fell in the freshman contest, 49-43. Olney held a 20-14 opening quarter lead on four three-pointers by St. Pierre. The Tigers had a 32-21 halftime lead.

Craig Croy led the Bulldogs with 20 points.

St. Anthony then claimed the sophomore game, 52-45. The Bulldogs led 26-21 at halftime then had a 10-8 third period.

Croy and Mick Willenborg scored nine points each as the Bulldogs had even scoring.

At Dieterich

Dieterich claimed a freshman-sophomore win over Newton Thursday.

The Movin' Maroons held a 33-21 halftime lead and led by 20 going into the final quarter.

Bryce Budde scored 24 while Jack Westendorf added 10 for Dieterich.

Newton was led by Jamie Zumbahlen with nine.
