LOUISVILLE -- Stewardson-Strasburg captured the championship of the National Trail Conference Eighth-Grade Boys Basketball Tournament Thursday evening.
Stew-Stras defeated Altamont, 39-27. Stew-Stras edged out to a 7-4 opening quarter lead and led 18-9 at halftime.
A. Wittenberg tallied 15 points for the winners while J. Wittenberg added 13.
Altamont was led by Hammer, Kollmann and Eirhart with six points each.
In the third place contest, South Central handed North Clay (Louisville) a 45-24 loss.
South Central edged out to a 6-5 opening quarter lead and led 18-11 at halftime. South Central then had an 18-8 third quarter run.
Watwood led the way for the winners with 16 points while Dunn added nine.
North Clay was led by Fleener with 15.
The consolation championship went to St. Elmo/Brownstown over Dieterich, 41-38.
SEB took a 7-2 opening quarter lead and led 21-16 at halftime. SEB then held off Dieterich for the win.
SEB was led by Campbell with 14 and Poe with 12.
Dieterich was led by Britton with 30 points.

At Greenville
Effingham picked up a victory while Effingham St. Anthony suffered a loss in the James Burke Memorial Eighth-Grade Tournament Thursday evening.
Effingham opened the evening with a 54-40 win over Triad.
Effingham edged out to a 13-12 first quarter lead and led 27-20 at halftime.
The Mustangs had three players in double figures. Wolfe led the way with 22 while Donaldson added 11 and Westendorf 10. Pontious had eight rebounds.
Effingham improved to 17-3 on the season.
St. Anthony fell to Aviston in the second contest, 56-38. Aviston took a 30-17 halftime lead and never looked back.
The Bullpups were led by Sehy with 12.
The tournament ends tonight with Hillsboro facing Greenville at 5 for the consolation championship, St. Anthony taking on Triad at 6 for third place and Effingham meeting Aviston for the championship at 7.

At Teutopolis
Teutopolis handed Paris Mayo two losses in action Thursday.
The Wooden Shoes captured the seventh-grade contest, 49-26. T-town held a 29-11 halftime lead and had a 12-9 final period.
Eli Hanson tallied 14 points for the winners.
In eighth-grade competition, T-town won 66-30. The Shoes had a big-scoring second quarter, 25-2 for a 38-12 halftime lead.
T-town had three players hit double figures. James Niebrugge led with 14 while Logan Roepke had 12 and Brendan Niebrugge 11.

Jasper County nabbed two wins over Palestine-Hutsonville Thursday.
In the seventh-grade contest, Jasper County was a 52-22 winner, taking a 36-6 halftime lead.
Flowers tallied 13 while Fehrenbacher added nine for the winners who improve to 10-10.
In eighth-grade action, Jasper County zipped out to a 22-8 opening quarter lead and went on for a 59-13 victory.
Nick Shamhart tallied 14 while Gage Reynolds and Dalton Baltzell added nine each. Jasper County is now 6-15.
