Little Illini Conference Boys Tournament January 19 Results; Area Roundup

Newton, Robinson, Casey-Westfield and Flora advanced to the final four of the Little Illini Conference Boys Basketball Tournament after picking up victories Saturday.
Newton handed Marshall a 56-36 loss. The Eagles broke a 14-14 first quarter tie with a 15-5 second period run to lead 29-19 at halftime. Marshall outscored Newton 12-10 in the final period to pull within 39-31 but the Eagles got the momentum back with a 17-5 final period run.
Newton hit 18 of 34 field goals and was 14 of 20 at the free throw line. Marshall hit seven of 19 from the field and four of six at the free throw line. Luke Stone led Newton with 15 points and seven rebounds while Dylan Davidson had 13 points, seven assists and four steals.
The Eagles will now face Robinson, a 59-33 winner over Hutsonville/Palestine, at 6 p.m. Tuesday. In other games Saturday, Casey-Westfield downed Oblong 69-56 and Flora edged Olney 33-32. Casey-Westfield takes on Flora at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
In consolation games tonight, Cumberland is at Oblong, Hutsonville/Palestine hosts Edwards County (Albion), Red Hill (Bridgeport) is at Marshall and Olney hosts Lawrenceville. All four games will be contested at 7 p.m. at the higher seeds.

At Cowden
Cowden-Herrick edged Centralia Christ Our Rock Lutheran Friday evening, 66-64.
Christ Our Rock took a 17-16 opening quarter lead but the Hornets came back to knot the score at 30-30 at halftime. Christ Our Rock then pushed ahead 48-41 going into the final period but C-H came roaring back with a 25-16 run to pull out the victory.
Ethan Schoonover tallied 21 while Luke Moore chipped in with 17 and Colton Burrus 11 for the winners.
