BEECHER CITY -- Altamont and Effingham St. Anthony will meet for the championship of the National Trail Conference Girls Basketball Tournament after winning in action Thursday evening.

Top-seeded Altamont handed North Clay (Louisville), fifth seeded, a 62-48 loss.

The Hatchets were led by Megan Schlechte with 14 points.

"Our team defense was superb," said St. Anthony Coach Bart Wiedman. "We held Megan Schlechte and Nikki Trussell to seven points combined for three quarters. Mostly because our guards had great pressure and we controlled the glass.
