EHS' L. Wolfe Moves Into No. 2 Spot, Area Boys Roundup

HIGHLAND -- Despite Effingham High School's 57-48 loss to Nashville in the Highland Optimist Boys Basketball Shootout Saturday, there was a highlight.
The Hearts' Landon Wolfe scored 20 points and moved into the No. 2 all-time spot among boys career scorers for EHS with 1,711 points. He now only trails Mitch Arnold who has over 2,000 career points.
The Hearts fell behind early, trailing 17-10 after the opening quarter but came back to pull within 29-26 at halftime. Nashville then had an 11-7 run to lead by seven going into the final period and finished out with a 17-15 edge for the winning margin. In that final quarter, Nashvile missed only one free throw in 13 attempts. Nashvhille finished with 22 of 26 free throws.
Also in double figures for EHS was Parker Wolfe with 14. Nate Thompson was on the verge with nine. EHS drops to 7-9 on the season.

At Neoga
Trailing 10-3 after the first quarter, Neoga posted a 23-11 second period advantage to lead 26-21 at halftime. It was 41-35 after three quarters and a 12-8 fourth quarter edge accounted for the 53-43 victory over Okaw Valley Saturday.
Levi Peters led Neoga with 16 points, while Mitchell Cornell scored 15 and Trevor Roy scored 13.

Woodlawn led throughout the contest over Altamont, but a 26-10 second quarter edge really made the difference in the 68-40 victory. Altamont trailed 16-10 after one quarter, was down 42-20 at halftime and trailed 56-31 after three quarters.
Altamont was led by Alek Biggs with 10 points, while Kaden Eirhart scored nine.
Woodlawn also nabbed the junior varsity game, 47-26.
