MOUNT CARMEL -- The Effingham St. Anthony Bulldogs ended up on the short end of a 57-51 count against Mount Carmel despite a career-best 16 points from Logan Antrim, along with 10 points apiece from Kaden Fearday and Jaccob Dust.
Mount Carmel stepped out to a 14-9 opening quarter lead and led 24-20 at halftime. The Golden Aces continued to control the third quarter with a 17-13 tally. The Bulldogs came back with an 18-16 final period only to fall short.
St. Anthony won the junior varsity game 50-38 with 14 points from Kennan Walsh, 11 points from Connor Walk and 10 points from Eli Moore.

At Altamont
Altamont improved to 9-7 with a 58-45 win over Dieterich in National Trail Conference play Friday evening.
There was balanced scoring for the Indians as Alek Biggs and Aiden Jahraus each scored 15 points and Derek Duckwitz scored 14 points.
The Indians edged ahead 12-10 after the opening quarter and 29-22 at halftime. Altamont held an 11-point lead going into the final quarter.
Dieterich was led by Collin Hartke with 18 points.
Altamont won the JV game 57-50.

South Central tallied a 33-17 victory over Cisne in a non-conference matchup Friday.
The Cougars led 17-11 at halftime then had a 16-6 second half. Seth Shumate led South Central with 11 points. He was the lone player in the game in double figures.
South Central is now 10-6 overall.
The Cougars also claimed the junior varsity game, 50-21.

The Wooden Shoes trailed 34-31 at halftime against Champaign St. Thomas More Friday evening but came back with a 30-24 second half for the 61-58 victory.
Leading Teutopolis were three players in double figures, Dawson Smith with 21, Clint Weber with 18 and Luke Ungrund with 12. Dawson Smith led the Shoes in rebounds with eight while Weber added seven. Smith also led in assists with five.
Morris led St. Thomas More with 31.

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg continued its winning ways by downing St. Elmo/Brownstown 58-40 in National Trail Conference action Friday evening.
The Hatchets edged out to a 13-11 opening quarter lead and led 25-21 at halftime. WSS then broke the game open with a 33-19 second half.
Clay Tabbert and Jackson Miller were the one-two scoring punch for the winners with 16 points each. Beau Bennett chipped in with 12 and Adam Burton rounded out the four scorers in double figures with 10.
SEB was led by Jacob Baron with 12 and Nate Philpot with 10. The Eagles drop to 1-4 in the conference, 7-7 overall.
Windsor/Stew-Stras picked up its seventh victory in the last eight games and improves to 1-1 in the conference, 11-6 overall.
