MONTICELLO -- Neoga split victories in the Monticello Holiday Boys Basketball Tournament Thursday.

Neoga fell to Gibson City/Melvin-Sibley 79-59. GCMS stepped out to a 16-10 opening quarter lead and led 25-21 at halftime. GCMS then had a 26-19 third period.

Neoga was led by Chase Banning with 17 points, Reece Johnson with 15, Trevor Roy with 11 and Mitchell Cornell with 10.

Neoga then came back to take a 30-23 win over Argenta-Oreana.

Levi Peters was the scoring leader for the Indians with 11. Roy and Cornell tallied eight each.

In other games, Tuscola easily won over Argenta-Oreana 75-33, Paxton-Buckley-Loda downed Oakwood 57-28, Monticello beat Ridgeview 38-35 and GCMS won over Tuscola 63-45.

Today's games find Argenta-Oreana against Oakwood at 3 p.m. for seventh place, Neoga taking on Colfax for fifth place at 4:30, Monticello against Tuscola at 6 for third place and GCMS meeting Paxton-Buckley-Loda at 7:30 for the championship.

Vandalia Holiday Tournament

Cumberland claimed two victories while South Central was a winner in one contest at the Vandalia Holiday Boys Basketball Tournament Thursday.

Cumberland opened with a 72-35 victory over Patoka. Cumberland ran off to a 22-9 opening quarter lead and that was the game.

Four players hit double figures for the Pirates. Brennyn Cutts led the way with 19 while Zach Wolke added 13, Gabe Hatfill 10 and Cory Gephart 10.

Cumberland then defeated Flora, 58-34.

The Pirates edged out to a 15-13 opening quarter lead and led 31-21 at halftime. Cumberland then had a 27-13 second half.

Wolke scored 18 while Cutts added 15 for the winners.

South Central had one game and defeated Okaw Valley, 50-43.

The Cougars trailed Okaw Valley 19-17 at halftime then had a 15-8 third quarter and outscored Okaw Valley 18-16 in the final period.

Logan Lotz led the way with 19 points while Collin Miller added 14.

In other games, Flora won over Pana 69-66, Meridian downed Okaw Valley 56-45, Vandalia beat Father McGivney 71-40 and Shelbyville defeated Pana 76-59.

South Central plays today at 12:30 against Father McGivney while Cumberland takes on Shelbyville at 6:30. Finals are Saturday.

Tri-County Tournament

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg opened play at the Tri-County Holiday Tournament with a 53-41 victory over Hutsonville/Palestine Thursday.

The Hatchets edged out to a 15-12 opening quarter lead but only led by one at halftime. WSS then had a 30-19 second half.

Beau Bennett led the Hatchets with 19 points while Jackson Miller chipped in with 14.

Windsor/Stew-Stras faces Paris today at 1:30 and Martinsville at 6.

The only other score reported from Thursday was Paris over Martinsville, 86-39.
