St. Anthony Wins Boys Frosh Contest

Effingham St. Anthony claimed a 42-33 freshman boys basketball victory over visiting Olney Thursday evening.

The Bulldogs trailed Olney 9-7 after the opening quarter and 21-17 at halftime. The Bulldogs came roaring back in the third quarter with a 14-4 run to lead 31-25 going into the final period.  St. Anthony then connected on its free throws with seven of 11 for an 11-8 final period edge.

Ja. Nieburgge and Je. Niebrugge tallied 10 points each for the winners. Ja. Niebrugge had four rebounds. N. Grunloh scored eight points and had six rebounds. Deimel led Olney with 13.
