WSS Captures Fourth at Knights Holiday Girls Classic

In Friday action, the Hatchets defeated Cumberland, 65-43. WSS leaped out to a 24-8 opening quarter lead and that was the game.

Megan Schlechte led the way for the Hatchets with 15 points while Hannah Hayes added 14 and Katrina Davis 11.

Cumberland was led by Zoe Mitchell with 11 and Josie Brown with 10.

In other games, Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond downed Shelbyville 51-20 while Tuscola won over Farmer City Blue Ridge 32-18 and Sullivan trounced Chrisman 58-9.

In Saturday play, Windsor/Stew-Stras fell to Tuscola, 57-41 in the third place contest. Tuscola led 24-19 at halftime.

WSS was led by Davis with 12 and Ha. Hayes and M. Schlechte with 11 each.

In the seventh-place contest, Cumberland downed Farmer City Blue Ridge, 32-27. The Pirates led 18-16 at halftime then had an 11-4 third period run.

The Pirates were led by Brown with 17 points. She hit five three-pointers in the contest.

In the championship game, Sullivan downed Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond 45-37. The fifth place game went to Shelbyville over Chrisman 37-25.
