TEUTOPOLIS -- Teutopolis captured both freshman and sophomore victories over Effingham in boys basketball action Saturday.
In the freshman game, the Wooden Shoes won, 40-37. Effingham moved ahead 12-10 in the first quarter and led 21-19 at halftime and 30-28 going into the final quarter. The Shoes came back with a 12-7 run to pull out the victory.
K. Althoff scored 15 for the winners. Effingham was led by Jett Volpi with 14 and Brayden Pals with 10.
In the sophomore contest, T-town edged the Hearts, 44-43.
The score was tied at 12-12 in the opening quarter before T-town took a 22-19 halftime lead. The Shoes led 37-30 going into the final quarter. Effingham came back with a 13-7 run only to fall short.
M. Niebrugge led T-town with 11 points while J. Poelker had 10.
Effingham was led by Max Woelfer with 17 and Jackson Lee with 12.
