Effingham claimed an Apollo Conference girls basketball win over Mount Zion Saturday, 52-46.
The Hearts trailed Mount Zion 15-13 after the opening quarter but came back to knot the score at 21-21at halftime. EHS then had 16-12 third quarter and outdistanced the Braves 15-13 in the final period.
Carsyn Fearday was back in action, scoring 21 points. She hit eight field goals that included one three-pointer and was four of five at the line.
Also in double figures wree Abby Weis with 13 and Miranda Fox with 12.

At Arthur
Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond edged Effingham St. Anthony, 47-43 in action Saturday.
ALAH edged ahead 11-10 after the first quarter but the score was tied at 19-19 at halftime. The Bulldogs moved ahead 37-30 going into the final quarter. But ALAH came back with a 17-6 run to pull out the victory. In that run, Bowles scored seven points and Hershberger five, hitting five of six free throws.
St. Anthony was led by Clare McHugh with 18 and Shea Kinkelaar with 12. McHugh hit seven field goals and was four of four at the line. Kinkelaar hit three field goals, including a three-pointer, and was five of seven at the line. Kinkelaar had five assists and Sydney Gibson five rebounds.
"Within two days we went from coming back to get a win to giving up a lead and losing a game," said St. Anthony Coach Bart Wiedman. "We had several mental breakdowns in the fourth quarter and then missed four of five big layups that could have stretched the lead.
"Clare and Shea had good offensive games but we were missing that third and fourth scorer."
St. Anthony claimed the junior varsity contest, 34-26.

Three players hit double digits as Teutopolis handed Olney a 68-23 loss in Saturday competition.
The Wooden Shoes took a 28-18 halftime lead then had a 29-2 third quarter.
Claire Bushur led the way with 15 points, 10 coming in that third quarter run. Lexie Niebrugge scored 14 and Morgan Mette 10.
Bushur pulled down seven rebounds while Karsyn Mette and Hannah Pruemer had five each. M. Mette and Niebrugge led in steals with four each. Savannah Grimes had three assists.

Neoga led 13-11 after one quarter but the score was tied at 21-21 at halftime. Newton then had a 28-25 second half for the win.
Claire Carr led Newton with 10 points. Brooke Jansen and Renae Russell scored eight each. The Eagles are now 3-9 on the season.
Neoga was led by Olivia Titus with 15. The Indians drop to 6-7 on the season.
Neoga won the junior varsity contest, 30-18.
