Wooden Shoes Have Successful Debut at Nashville Tournament

After 75 years at the National Trail Conference Tournament, the Teutopolis Wooden Shoes look ready to make their switch to the Nashville Invitational Tournament a successful one.

T-Town blasted Mascoutah 66-37 Wednesday night in their tournament opener.

Things didn't start well, as the Shoes trailed 11-8 after one quarter, but they then kicked it in, outscoring Mascoutah 23-4 in the second period to lead 31-15 at halftime.  A 21-10 third quarter edge pushed the Shoes' lead to 52-25, and Teutopolis outscored Mascoutah 14-12 in the final period to account for the 29-point win.

Rourke Schultz led a balanced T-Town attack with 14 points.  Jared Waldhoff and Kyle Pruemer each scored nine points, Derek Smith and Reed Hardiek each scored eight points, Brett Mette seven, Tyler Windell five, Cody Will four, and Devin Falbe two.

Teutopolis will next take on Breese Central, who downed Freeburg 50-30, in championship bracket semi-final action Friday at 8pm.

Tonight at Nashville in consolation bracket semi-final action, Trenton Wesclin will play Nashville at 6pm and Freeburg will take on Mascoutah at 8pm.
