Candace Niemerg made a last-second game-winning three-pointer to lift the Dieterich Lady Maroons over the Neoga Lady Indians 48-47 Wednesday night at the Effingham Girls Round Robin Tournament.  The Effingham Lady Hearts moved into the driver's seat in the tournament with a 35-25 win over Centralia in the other contest.

Niemerg led Dieterich with 29 points, but the game-winner was her only three-pointer of the game.  Also for Dieterich: Sydney Higgs 8, Courtney Flach and Mallorie Vahling 4 each, and Katilyn Meinhart 3.

E.C. Thies led Neoga with 21 points, while Jillian Deters scored 15 and Madison Butler had 11.

Dieterich improved to 13-6 on the season while Neoga slipped to 6-15.

In the Hearts' win, Josie Zerrusen led the way with 12 points while Stephanie Robb scored 10.  Also for the Lady Hearts: Caitlin Kaufman 8, Kelli Utz 4, Maddy Field 1.

Effingham is now 3-0 in the tournament with a game remaining tonight at 7:45pm against Dieterich.  Dieterich is 1-1 and plays both tonight and Friday night.  Centralia is 2-1 in the tournament, and Neoga and St. Anthony are both 0-2.  Centralia has the night off tonight and finishes on Friday while Neoga and St. Anthony play each other tonight at 6:15pm and then each play on Friday.

We'll have both games from the Round Robin tonight on KJ Country 102.3 and www.kjcountry.com.  Again, that's St. Anthony vs. Neoga at 6:15pm in a rematch of their regular season game from last Thursday won by St. Anthony by four and Effingham and Dieterich at 7:45pm.  First game pre-game show tonight just after 6pm.
