Lady Shoes Down Lady Bulldogs Monday

The Teutopolis Lady Shoes defeated the Lady Bulldogs at St. Anthony 64-35 Monday night in a game heard on KJ Country 102.3 and www.kjcountry.com. 

Both teams shot well out of the gate, but the Lady Shoes outscored St. Anthony 9-0 at the line to help themselves to a 20-10 lead at the end of the first quarter. T-Town advanced the lead to 37-21 at halftime and then put the game away in the third period, outscoring the Lady Bulldogs 20-8 to lead 57-29 heading to the final quarter.

Teutopolis shot well all night, finishing at 52% from the field on 23 of 44 shooting including 4 of 10 threes. The Shoes were 14 of 18 at the line, committed just nine turnovers, and grabbed 21 rebounds.

St. Anthony finished at 38% from the field, although that was hampered by a 1-for-9 fourth quarter. The Bulldogs were 14 of 37 overall including 2 of 5 threes. St. Anthony made 5 of 7 foul shots, committed 17 turnovers and pulled down 19 rebounds.

Teutopolis has displayed balanced scoring much of the season and Monday night was no exception. Lexie Niebrugge and Olivia Niemerg each scored 12 points and Savannah Grimes and Claire Bushur each scored 10 points. Morgan Mette scored eight points. Also for T-Town: Karsyn Mette and Emma Deters four each, and Hannah Pruemer and Ciara Roepke two each.

St. Anthony had three double figure scorers; Meg Richards with 12 points and Shea Kinkelaar and Clare McHugh with 10 points each. Sydney Gibson scored the other three Bulldogs points.

Teutopolis improved to 11-2 on the season, while St. Anthony slipped to 7-4. 

Teutopolis won the JV game 47-22. Hope Bueker with 11 points and Karsyn Mette with nine points led Teutopolis, while Izzy Hakman scored eight to lead St. Anthony.
