Altamont Seventh-Grade Girls Captures Third at State

The Willdcats from Altamont defeated Brimfield 36-32 at Paris High School to win the third place trophy at the Class 7-2A Girls State Basketball Tournament Thursday Night. 

Altamont started off quickly with a 16-7 edge after the first quarter. However, Brimfield bounced back with a 9-2 second quarter to trail 18-16 at halftime.  It was tied at 25 at the end of third period as Brimfield outscored Altamont 9-7. Altamont regrouped with an 11-7 advantage in the fourth quarter to secure the victory.

Grace Nelson led Altamont with 25 points. Altamont finished the season with a 20-9 record. 

Mendon Unity, who defeated Altamont in the semi-finals, defeated Havana in the championship game by a score of 25-15.
