St. Anthony Downs CHBC in Girls' Action Thursday

The St. Anthony Lady Bulldogs used its height to full advantage Thursday night, defeating the CHBC Bobcats 60-37 in NTC girls basketball action. The game at the Enlow Center was heard on KJ Country 102.3 and www.kjcountry.com.

The Bulldogs posted a 40-17 rebound edge to create numerous second shot opportunities. Consistent scoring was also a key as St. Anthony had quarters of 14, 15, 15 and 16 to post the win.

It was a game of runs at times. St. Anthony was up 14-5 after one quarter and extended its first half lead to 13 points before the Bobcats came storming back to pull within three points. The Bulldogs regrouped, though, extending the lead to 18 points in the third quarter and 23 at the end of the game. St. Anthony outscored CHBC 31-16 in the second half.

St. Anthony made 25 of 58 shots, 43%, including 6 of 17 threes. The Bulldogs were 4 of 8 at the line, and committed 15 turnovers. 

CHBC made 14 of 44 shots, 32%, including 3 of 10 threes. The Bobcats were 6 of 12 at the line and turned the ball over 19 times.

Clare McHugh had a great night for St. Anthony, leading all scorers with 26 points. McHugh hit 10 of 22 shots including three threes. Meg Richards scored eight points and grabbed 10 rebounds. Shea Kinkelaar, in her return from a concussion, scored eight points, and Riley Guy scored eight points. Also for the Bulldogs: Sydney Gibson four, and Abby Repking, Taylor Beesley and Kate Hartke each with two points. Repking grabbed eight rebounds.

Jaelyn Robertson led CHBC with 17 points on six of 14 shooting, also grabbing six rebounds. Madison Cherry was also in double figures with 13 points on five of five shooting. Also for CHBC: Lani Morrison, Lauren Wojcik and Sydney Lorton each scored two points and Tabitha Endsley had one point.

St. Anthony improved to 7-3 with the win, while CHBC is now 5-3. 

St. Anthony won the JV game 36-21. Riley Guy led the JV Bulldogs with 13 points.
