Effingham St. Anthony claimed both freshman and sophomore boys basketball victories Monday evening.
The Bulldogs won the freshman contest, 39-37. Effingham held a 9-6 opening quarter lead but the Bulldogs came back to lead 15-13 at halftime and 25-24 going into the final quarter then had a 14-13 edge.
Colton Fearday scored 14 while Craig Croy added 13 for the winners.
Effingham was led by Pals with 10.
In the sophomore contest, St. Anthony took a 29-21 halftime lead and opened the game up in the second half for a 52-43 win.
Justin Ruholl scored 14 and Ty Weidman 10 for the Bulldogs.
Effingham was led by Lee with 15 and Woelfer with 14.

Newton claimed a freshman contest over Edwards County (Albion), 56-48.
The Eagles held a two point lead at halftime then had a 35-29 second half.
Ben Meinhart scored 25 and Evan Schafer 16 for the winners.
