Bulldogs Pick Up Friday Boys Cage Win, Area Roundup

Effingham St. Anthony easily handled Sullivan in a non-conference boys basketball contest Friday evening, 69-32.
The Bulldogs ripped out to a 25-5 opening quarter lead as Alex Brandenburger tallied eight points, knocking down two three-pointers and two free throws.
St. Anthony held a 38-14 halftime lead. Brandenburger finished with 10 points for the Bulldogs while Kaden Fearday chipped in with nine and Jack Hoene added eight.
St. Anthony also nabbed the junior varsity game, 71-21.

At Neoga
St. Elmo/Brownstown edged Neoga 54-53 in National Trail Conference action Friday evening.
SEB held a 16-10 opening quarter lead and led 31-14 at halftime. But Neoga came back with a 30-13 second half to knot the score at 44-44 sending the game into overtime.
In the overtime period, SEB had a 10-9 edge to pull out the victory.
The Eagles were led by Andy Goldsborough with 16 points and Jace McWhorter with nine. Goldsborough also pulled down 16 rebounds and had four assists. Bryton Pruett had four assists. SEB improved to 1-1 in the conference, 4-2 overall.
Neoga was led by Reece Johnson with 25 points and three assists. Levi Peters and Trevor Roy had 11 rebounds each. Roy had three assists and three steals. Chase Banning led in steals with four.

Odin downed South Central 55-43 in a non-conference contest Friday.
The Cougars led 9-8 after the opening quarter but Odin came back with a 20-13 second period to lead 28-22 at halftime. The Eagles then had a 27-21 second half.
Logan Lotz led the Cougars with 15 points. South Central drops to 4-2 on the season.

Altamont took a 27-24 first quarter lead and led 43-32 at halftime and 55-49 going into the final quarter. The Vandals then got untracked and Barth scored 15 of the team's 29 points for the win. Barth finished with 33 points.
Altamont was led by Alek Biggs with 23 points, Aidan Jahraus with 18, Denver Duckwith with 12 and Noah Teasley with 11.
