Effingham downed Effingham St. Anthony in boys junior high basketball games Thursday evening.
Effingham picked up the seventh-grade victory, 35-20. The Mustangs ran off to a 17-4 opening quarter lead and that was the game.
Raddatz led Effingham with 17 points. St. Anthony was led by Bernhard with six.
In eighth-grade play, the Mustangs downed St. Anthony, 45-28.
The second half was the big half as the Mustangs led just 19-17 at halftime. Effingham then had a 26-11 run.
Wolfe scored 18 while Westendorf added 10 for the winners. Pontious led in steals with eight. Wolfe, Pontious and Westendorf had five rebounds each.

At Strasburg
Effingham Sacred Heart and Stewardson-Strasburg picked up a victory each in play Thursday evening.
Sacred Heart won the seventh-grade contest, 32-25. Biggs led the way for the Shamrocks with 18 points. Gracey led Stew-Stras with 10. Stew-Stras dropped to 5-5.
In eighth-grade play, Stew-Stras (11-0) ran off to a 16-0 first quarter lead and went on for a 49-16 victory.
J. Wittenberg scored 15 while Nothaus and A. Wittenberg added 10 each. Sacred Heart was led by Lohman and Hartke with four points each.

Jasper County and North Clay (Louisville) split wins Thursday evening.
Jasper County was 65-33 winner in seventh-grade play. Jasper County jumped out to a 20-7 opening quarter lead and that was the game.
Wolf scored 27 while Nichols added 18 for the winners. Jasper County improves to 5-5. North Clay was led by Weidner with nine.
In the eighth-grade contest, North clay picked up a 49-36 victory. Smith and Fleener provided the one-two scoring punch for North Clay with 17 each. Shamhart led Jasper County (2-8) with 10.

Teutopolis handed Vandalia two losses in action Thursday.
The Wooden Shoes stepped out to a 19-6 opening quarter on Vandalia and finished out with a 60-16 victory in the seventh-grade game.
Tyler Pruemer scored 13 for the Wooden Shoes.
In eighth-grade play, T-town won 43-15. Brenden Niebrugge scored 13 and James Niebrugge 12.

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City downed Altamont in seventh-grade competition Thursday evening, 46-18.
CHBC jumped out to a 29-8 halftime lead. Wojcik tallied 17 for the winners while Evans added nine. Altamont was led by Fenton, Pospischel and Kollmann with four each.
In eighth-grade play, Altamont won 52-33. Altamont held a 22-8 halftime lead.
Rippetoe scored 19 for the winners while Kollmann added 13. CHBC was led by Theis with 14.

Newton St. Thomas handed Oblong a 37-5 loss in seventh-grade action Thursday evening.
St. Thomas took a 26-3 halftime lead. B. Bergbower led the way scoring with seven points. The team is 7-0 on the season.
In the eighth-grade contest, St. Thomas was a 43-15 winner. St. Thomas jumped out to a 13-1 opening quarter lead. G. Bierman tallied 13 while D. Buerster added 12. St. Thomas improved to 3-5.
