Lady Bulldogs Start Friday w/Win

The St. Anthony Lady Bulldogs showed no ill effects from the Thanksgiving holiday, winning the 9am game Friday at the Robinson Holiday Tournament.

 

St. Anthony posted a 56-45 win over Olney Richland County to improve to 2-1 on the season, and 1-1 in the tournament.

St. Anthony Coach Bart Wiedman said Friday morning's performance was "night and day from the floor shooting the ball from Tuesday to today."

The Lady Bulldogs stormed out of the gate, leading 16-5 at the end of the first quarter. It was 28-17 at halftime and 39-31 after three periods before St. Anthony outscored Olney 17-14 in the final quarter to win by 11.

St. Anthony had four players in double figures: Shea Kinkelaar with 15 points, Carly McHugh with 12, Sydney Gibson with 11, and Riley Guy with 10 points. Also scoring for the Lady Bulldogs: Reese Jones 5, Meg Richards 3.

McHugh also contributed seven assists and two steals, while Gibson grabbed six rebounds.

Wiedman commended his seniors, saying, "This was a great job by the seniors for 32 minutes."

St. Anthony is back in action in the tournament tonight at 6:30pm against Fairfield.
