Effingham Junior High School split victories with Mattoon in boys basketball competition Tuesday evening.
Mattoon claimed a 21-19 win in seventh-grade B action. Effingham held an 8-7 first quarter lead and led 14-12 at halftime. EJHS led 17-12 going into the final quarter when Mattoon came to life, outscoring the Mustangs 9-2 to pull out the victory.
Rose led EJHS with seven points.
In eighth-grade B action, Effingham was a 51-14 winner with a 21-4 second period run.
Maxedon, Brown and A. Splechter tallied 11 points each for the Mustangs. A. Splechter and Maxedon had three steals each. Heil led in rebounds with seven.

Vandalia handed Effingham St. Anthony a 37-34 loss in seventh-grade play Tuesday evening.
Vandalia took a 26-25 halftime lead and held that lead throughout the contest for a 50-46 victory.
St. Anthony was led by Sean Adams with 12 points.

Sigel St. Michael and Jasper County were both winners Tuesday evening.
St. Michael claimed the seventh-grade game, 44-37. The Sharpshooters held a 24-15 halftime lead and held on for the win.
Niebrugge and Ruholl scored 14 each for the winners. Jasper County was led by Isaac Flowers with 14 and Parker Wolf with 12.
In eighth-grade play, Jasper County was a 37-30 winner. St. Michael led 14-5 at halftime. Jasper County came back with a 15-4 third quarter and a 17-12 final period. Jasper County dropped to 4-3.
Gage Reynolds scored 10 to lead Jasper County. St. Michael was led by Koester with 14. Jasper County improves to 2-5.

At Altamont
Salem picked up two victories over Altamont in action Tuesday evening.
Salem won the seventh-grade contest, 52-9. Salem led 31-0 at halftime.
Altamont was led by Pospischel with three points.
In the eighth-grade contest, Salem claimed a 37-34 win. Altamont led 20-9 at halftime and 28-16 going into the final period. Salem then came to life with a 21-6 run to pull out the three-point victory. Salem hit 10 of 11 free throws in the final quarter.

Teutopolis scored 40 points in each game victory over Robinson Nuttall Tuesday evening.
T-town won the seventh-grade contest, 47-20. T-town was led by Tyler Pruemer and Ethan R. Thoele with 10 points each.
In the eighth-grade contest, T-town was a 43-14 winner. The Wooden Shoes had a big second quarter burst with a 16-1 run.
James Niebrugge scored 14 and Caleb Siemer 10 for the Shoes.

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City split victories with St. Elmo/Brownstown in action Tuesday.
SEB won the seventh-grade contest, 56-23. SEB took an 11-9 opening quarter lead then pushed that to 31-13 at halftime.
Campbell tallied 22 fo the winners as he hit three field goals, including a three-pointer, and was 11 of 13 from the line.
CHBC was led by Clayton Wojcik with nine points.
In the eighth-grade contest, CHBC edged St. Elmo/Brownstown, 34-32. The score was tied at 6-6 after the opening quarter. CHBC took a 19-15 halftime lead and led 23-20 going into the final quarter. SEB came back with a 12-11 final period but couldn't make up that second period deficit.
Kenny Robbins led the way with nine points for CHBC. SEB was led by Atwood with 13.
