STRASBURG -- Altamont Junior High School captured the championship of the Class 7-2A Stewardson-Strasburg Girls Basketball Regional Tuesday evening.

 

Altamont defeated Effingham St. Anthony, 34-30. Altamont held a 19-12 hafltime lead. St. Anthony came back with a 12-6 third quarter to pull within 25-24 but Altamont got back on track in the final period.

Nelson tallied 20 for the winners while P. Osteen added eight.

St. Anthony was led by H. Niebrugge with eight and Kibler with six.

Altamont advances to the Stewardson-Strasburg Sectional November 28 and will meet North Clay (Louisville)  at 6:30 p.m.

Class 7-2A Stew-Stras Regional

Class 7-2A Casey-Westfield Regional

North Clay (Louisville) claimed the championship of the Casey-Westfield Regional.

North Clay defeated Edwards County (Albion), 45-25.

North Clay now advances to the Stewardson-Strasburg Sectional November 28 to meet Altamont at 6:30 p.m.

 

Class 7-1A Dieterich Regional

Sigel St. Michael picked up the championship of the Dieterich Regional Tuesday evening.

The Sharpshooters downed Dieterich, 37-16.

St. Michael advances to its own sectional November 28 and will meet either Pana Sacred Heart or Ramsey at 6:30 p.m. Those two teams play for the championship of the Pana Sacred Heart Regional tonight.

 

Teutopolis claimed the seventh-grade regional title.

Class 7-3A Teutopolis Regional

Teutopolis claimed the title of its own regional by downing Paris Mayo, 25-19 Tuesday evening.

The Wooden Shoes edged out to a 7-5 opening quarter lead and held that two point lead at halftime, 12-10.

T-town then had a 9-1 third period and that was the game. Paris Mayo made a comeback bid in the final period only to fall short.

Isabelle Zerrusen led the Shoes with nine points. T-town is now 25-2 on the season.

T-town will now face Tolono Unity at the Cumberland Sectional November 28. Game time is 6:30 p.m.
