COWDEN -- Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City claimed two victories over Effingham St. Anthony in junior high girls basketball action Tuesday evening.

CHBC downed the Bullpups 35-13 in eighth-grade play. CHBC led 13-6 at halftime then had a 13-4 third period run.

Gracie Heckert tallied 19 points for the winners, hitting nine field goals and one free throw. Harleigh Bunch chipped in with eight. CHBC improved to 18-3 on the season.

St. Anthony was led by Rios with six points.

In the seventh-grade contest, CHBC was a 30-22 winner. CHBC took a 10-7 opening half lead.

Ruby Stuckemeyer tallied 10 points while Shae Nohren added eight. CHBC is now 11-10 on the season.

St. Anthony was led by M. Kibler with 10.

At Teutopolis

Teutopolis took on Pana and sent the visitors home with two losses Tuesday evening.

The Wooden Shoes won the seventh-grade contest, 35-15. The Wooden Shoes zipped out to a 21-5 halftime lead. Isabelle Zerrusen and Ellie Thoele had eight points each.

T-town improves to 21-2 on the season.

In the eighth-grade contest, T-town edged Pana 31-28. The Shoes led 18-8 at halftime. Pana came back with a 12-4 third quarter to pull within two points going into the final period. T-town then had a 9-7 run for the win.

Emily Konkel tallied 20 points for the Shoes who iprove to 21-2.

At Kinmundy

Stewardson-Strasburg and South Central split victories Tuesday evening.

Stew-Stras picked up the seventh-grade contest, 30-22. Stew-Stras took a 10-3 opening quarter lead and then held off South Central.

Mathis scored 11 while Wernsing tallied nine and Vonderheide eight for the wniners. Webster led South Central with 15.

Stew-Stras improved to 16-4 on the season and 6-2 in the National Trail Conference.

In eighth-grade action, South Central was a 46-22 winner. South Central had an 18-5 second period.

Webster scored 18 while Garrett added 16 for the winners. Stew-Stras was led by Kinkelaar and Weeden with six each. Stew-Stras dropped to 6-14 overall and 3-5 in the NTC.
