SUMMERVILLE -- Effingham St. Anthony captured two victories at the Summerville Boys Basketball Shootout Saturday.

 The seventh-grade squad defeated Germantown, 51-30. The Bullpups held only a 14-12 halftime lead then had a 22-11 third period.

Colin Westendorf scored 11 while Beau Adams added eight and Conner Roepke seven for the Bullpups.

In the eighth-grade contest, St. Anthony trailed Woodlawn 35-29 going into the final quarter and pulled out a 45-42 victory.

The score was tied at 13-13 in the opening quarter and Woodlawn led 24-22 at halftime.

M. Sager tallied 15 while G. Sehy added 12 and E. Levitt eight.

At Summerville

At Summerville

Effingham's seventh-grade squad fell to St. Mary's, 40-21 in the Summerville Shootout Saturday.

St. Mary's pushed into a 14-4 opening quarter lead and never looked back.

Effingham was led by Raddatz with nine points. EJHS drops to 2-4 on the season.

In eighth-grade action, Effingham edged Flora, 31-28. The Mustangs pushed into a 17-10 halftime lead then held off Flora in the second half.

Wolfe scored 13 to lead Effingham.

At Strasburg

Stewardson-Strasburg captured its own Eighth-Grade Boys Basketball Tournament Saturday.

Stew-Stras defeated Cumberland, 43-23 by jumping out to a 15-0 first quarter lead.

Davis scored 11 while A. Wittenberg added 10 for the winners.

North Clay (Louisville) edged Pana Sacred Heart, 55-54 in the second game.

In the championship, Stew-Stras downed North Clay, 48-39.

Stew-Stras held a three-point lead at halftime then took a 30-24 second half.

A. Wittenberg tallied 20 while J. Wittenberg added 11 and Nothaus scored 10. The Stew-Stras eighth-grade team sports a 5-0 record.

Third place went to Cumberland over Pana Sacred Heart, 45-42.
