ROBINSON -- Effingham St. Anthony split victories with host Robinson Nuttall in girls junior high school basketball competition Monday.

In the seventh-grade contest, Robinson Nuttall captured a 39-17 victory. Nuttall held a 31-14 lead going into the final quarter.

St. Anthony was led by H. Niebrugge with seven points.

In the eighth-grade contest, St. Anthony was a 41-13 winner. The Bullpups took a 20-6 halftime lead.

Rios and Riley Willenborg scored eight points each for St. Anthony.

At Effingham

Effingham picked up two wins over Altamont Monday evening.

The Mustangs won the seventh-grade game, 29-18. Effingham got the momentum early with a 12-2 opening quarter lead and held Altamont scoreless in the second period.

Volpi led the Mustangs with 10 points while Hodge added seven. Altamont was led by Boehm with six points.

In eighth-grade action, the Mustangs tallied a 42-20 win over Altamont. Ella Niebrugge scored 12 for the Mustangs while Marissa Allie and Courtney Beck had eight each.

P. Osteen led Altamont with eight points.

At Cowden

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City and Teutopolis split victories Monday evening.

T-town won the seventh-grade encounter, 44-8. Vahling and Wall led the way with nine points each while Thoele added eight.

CHBC was led by Ruby Stuckemeyer with six. CHBC drops to 10-8 on the season.

In eighth-grade action, CHBC was a 31-23 winner. The two teams were tied at 4-4 in the first quarter and 11-11 at halftime. CHBC then moved ahead 17-15 going into the final quarter and had a 14-8 run.

CHBC was led by Gracie Heckert with 16 and Mady Wojcik with 11. T-town was led by Konkel with 18.
