Effingham St. Anthony Junior High School handed Sigel St. Michael two losses in boys basketball Monday evening.

In seventh-grade play, the Bullpups pushed ahead 12-6 and led 19-9 at halftime. St. Anthony then held off a second half challenge by St. Michael for a 41-30 victory.

Beau Adams led the way for St. Anthony with 12 points while Conner Roepke added nine. St. Michael was led by Fearday with eight.

In eighth-grade action, St. Anthony claimed a 42-19 victory. The Bullpups took a 25-7 halftime lead.

G. Sehy tallied 13 for the winners while E. Levitt added eight. The Sharpshooters were led by Niebrugge with eight and Koester with seven.

At St. Peter

Effingham Sacred Heart picked up a seventh-grade victory over St. Peter Lutheran Monday.

The Shamrocks held a 21-12 halftime lead behind the scoring of Noah Biggs who tallied 11 points by halftime and finished with 15 to lead the way. Also in double figures was Ethan Karolewicz with 10.

St. Peter was led by Colton Smith with 12.

In eighth-grade action, Sacred Heart claimed a 56-21 victory.

The Shamrocks took a 31-8 lead by halftime. A. Tegelar tallied 15 and D. Ohman 11 for the winners.

At Mount Vernon

Effingham edged out to an 8-5 opening quarter lead on Mount Vernon Casey Zadok and captured a 14-17 win in seventh-grade action.

The Mustangs were led by Lewis with 11 and Raddatz with eight. EJHS improves to 2-1 on the season.

In eighth-grade action, Effingham claimed a 56-35 win. Garrett Wolfe scored 19 and had five steals for the Mustangs while Tanner Pontious scored 15 and pulled down nine rebounds. Thad Dillow had five rebounds.

The Mustangs led 34-15 at halftime and improved to 2-1 on the season.

At Newton

Dieterich and Jasper County split victories Monday evening.

In the seventh-grade contest, Jasper County was a 43-40 winner. Jasper County held an 18-10 opening quarter lead but Dieterich came roaring back with a 19-0 second period run to lead 29-18 at halftime. Then it was Jasper County's turn with a 17-8 third quarter.

Caden Nichols scored 22 for the winners while Isaac Flowers added 16. Jasper County improves to 4-0.

Dieterich was led by Holste with 14 points.

In eighth-grade play. Dieterich picked up a 43-23 victory. Dieterich stepped out to a 25-6 opening quarter lead and never looked back.

Kidd scored 24 and Britton 14 for the winners.Jasper County was led by Nick Shamhart with five. Jasper County drops to 1-3.

At Teutopolis

Teutopolis scored in the 40's in both games to down Mattoon twice Monday evening.

T-town jumped out to a 21-3 opening quarter lead in the seventh-grade B contest and went on for a 48-15 victory.

Brett Kreke scored 15 while Josh Habing tallied 12 for the Wooden Shoes.

In the eighth-grade B game, T-town won easily, 42-12. It was even scoring for the Shoes as Ethan Mette scored eight and Ivan Wernsing seven.

At Strasburg

Stewardson-Strasburg split victories with visiting Sullivan Monday evening.

In the seventh-grade contest, Sullivan claimed a 46-12 victory. Sullivan had a 23-1 second period run.

Stew-Stras was led by Gracey with eight points as the Stars drop to 1-2.

In eighth-grade action, Stew-Stras moved its record to 2-0 with a 42-12 victory.

Stew-Stras has a 30-6 halftime lead then held Sullivan scoreless in the third quarter to lead 42-6.

A. Wittenberg scored 19 for the winners while Jackson, J. Wittenberg and Nothaus had six each.

At Greenville

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City traveled to Greenville and fell to the host squad in both seventh and eighth-grade play Monday evening.

Greenville was a 28-14 winner in seventh-grade play. Leading CHBC was Clayton Wojcik with four points.

In the eighth-grade contest, Greenville claimed a 40-25 win over CHBC.

CHBC was led by Trevor Theis with eight and Drake Davis with seven.
