Jasper County and Altamont split victories in junior high boys basketball action Tuesday evening.

Jasper County was a 63-19 winner in seventh-grade play. Jasper County leaped out to a 21-3 open quarter lead and never looked back.

Caden Nichols tallied 16 and Parker Wolf 14 for the winners. Jasper County improved to 2-0.

Kollman led Altamont with seven points.

In eighth-grade play, Altamont picked up the 45-28 win. Altamont trailed 11-10 after the opening quarter but led 18-16 at halftime then had a 27-12 second half.

Jared Hammer scored 23 and Eric Kollman 11 for Altamont. Jasper County was led by Nick Shamhart, Gage Reynolds and Owen Mahaffey with seven each. Jasper County drops to 1-1.

At Altamont

Altamont Lutheran and Vandalia split eighth-grade contests Tuesday evening.

Altamont Lutheran won the eighth-grade A contest, 44-38. Lutheran took a 21-20 halftime lead then had a 23-18 second half.

Logan Cornett tallied 16 for the winners while Avery Jahraus added 13 and Mason Robinson 10.

Vandalia claimed the eighth-grade B contest, 44-17. Vandalia took a 16-8 opening half lead then had a 28-9 second half.

Altamont Lutheran was led by Aiden McManaway with six points.

At Nokomis

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City fell to Pana St. Patrick in the Nokomis Eighth-Grade Tournament Tuesday.

Pana St. Pat's won 28-19. The two teams were tied at 6-6 in the opening quarter. Pana St. Pat's held a 15-13 first half lead and led 19-17 going into the final quarter. St. Pat's then had a 9-2 final period run for the victory.

CHBC was led by Waylon Watson with seven points.
