ALTAMONT -- Altamont Junior High School nabbed two victories over Effingham Sacred Heart in girls basketball competition Monday evening.
Altamont claimed the seventh-grade contest, 37-13. Altamont held a 20-2 halftime lead. Grace Nelson tallied 11 points while Claire Boehm and Skylie Klein had eight each for the winners.
Sacred Heart was led by Helmink with nine.
In eighth-grade play, Altamont was a 36-6 winner. Altamont took a 32-2 halftime lead.
Kalianna Becker led the way for the winners with 16 points while Lanie Tedrick added eight.
The Shamrocks were led by Sherrod with three points.

At Effingham
Effingham split victories with visiting Olney in action Monday evening.
The Mustangs fell in seventh-grade play, 33-21. The score was tied at 6-6 at halftime before Olney took a 15-6 third quarter run and never looked back.
Effingham was led by Volpi with nine and Niebrugge with eight.
In eighth-grade play, the Mustangs were 40-15 winners. EJHS led 24-5 at halftime. Ella Niebrugge tallied 11 for Effingham.

At Dieterich
Dieterich and Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City split victories Monday evening.
Dieterich was a winner in seventh-grade play in an exciting contest, 22-20.
CHBC held a 5-2 opening quarter lead and led 7-6 at halftime. CHBC still was the leader by a 13-12 count going into the final quarter. Dieterich then pulled out the win, outscoring CHBC 10-7 in the final period.
Britton tallied six for the winners. CHBC was led by Ruby Stuckemeyer with nine.
In eignth-grade play, CHBC took a 46-13 victory. CHBC stepped out to a 31-12 halftime lead and that was the game.
Mady Wojcik tallied 21 while Gracie Heckert scored 18 for the winners. Dieterich was led by Brummer with six points.
