DIETERICH -- The National Trail Conference Seventh-Grade Girls Basketball Tournament got underway Tuesday evening.
South Central advanced with a 24-19 victory over Effingham Sacred Heart.
In the second game, Dietrich trounced Neoga, 32-4.
The final contest of the evening went to Stewardson-Strasburg/Windsor over Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City, 30-9.
In that game, SSW stepped out to a 19-5 first half lead. Kinkelaar tallied 15 and Vonderheide 11 for the winners. Stuckemeyer led CHBC with five. SSW is now 9-4 on the season.
The tourney continues tonight as top-seeded Sigel St. Michael faces South Central at 5:30, North Clay (Louisville) meets Altamont at 6:45 and BSE takes on Dieterich at 8.

At Centralia
Effingham Junior High School picked up a 37-7 win over Centralia in action Tuesday evening.
The Mustangs stepped out to a 16-1 opening quarter lead. Boone tallied 10 for the Hearts who improve to 6-1.
In the eighth-grade contest, Effingham was a 49-30 winner. The Hearts held a 19-14 halftime lead and outscored Centralia 30-16 in the second half.
Marissa Allie tallied 22 points for the winners.

At Sigel
Effingham St. Anthony and Sigel St. Michael split victories Tuesday evening.
The Bullpups won the seventh-grade contest, 27-24. St. Anthony trailed the Sharpshooters 17-10 at halftime but edged ahead 20-19 in the third quarter. St. Anthony then had a 7-5 final quarter for the victory.
S. Kibler tallied seven points to lead the winners. St. Michael was led by Hotze with 12.
In eighth-grade play, St. Michael downed St. Anthony, 40-31.
The Sharpshooters took a 25-19 halftime lead and led 33-27 going into the final quarter.
St. Michael was led by Niebrugge with 15 points and Bueker with nine. St. Anthony was led by Faber with 11.
