ALTAMONT -- Altamont Junior High School picked up two wins over Shelbyville in girls basketball competition Thursday.
Altamont won the seventh-grade contest, 20-16. Altamont held a 16-11 halftime lead but only led by three going into the final quarter. Grace Nelson scored all seven of the final quarter points for the 25-20 victory.
Nelson finished with 21 points for the winners.
In the eighth-grade contest, Altamont picked up a 35-16 win. Altamont held a 25-4 halftime lead.
Kalianna Becker scored 20 points to lead the way for Altamont.

At Cowden
Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City swept Okaw Valley in action Thursday evening.
CHBC won the seventh-grade contest 34-27 to improve to 7-1 on the season. Ruby Stuckemeyer led the way with 19 points.
In the eighth-grade game, CHBC took a 29-15 halftime lead and garnered a 46-26 win. Gracie Heckert led the way with 24 points.

At Tower Hill
Stewardson-Strasburg edged Pana Sacred Heart, 28-27 in seventh-grade play Thursday.
Sacred Heart held a 19-13 halftime lead and led 23-15 going into the final quarter. The Stars then rallied with a 13-4 run for the victory.
Kinkelaar led the way with nine points while Vonderheide chipped in with eight. Stew-Stras improves to 8-4.
In eighth-grade action, Pana Sacred Heart claimed a 44-13 win.
Stew-Stras was led by Kinkelaar and Weeden with six points each. The squad drops to 2-8.
