Effingham Junior High School nabbed two wins over Okaw Valley in girls basketball competition Tuesday.
The Mustangs won the seventh-grade encounter, 33-23 to improve to 5-1 on the season.
Volpi had 10 points for the winners.
In eighth-grade play, Effingham was a 36-16 winner. Annie Frost had eight points for the Mustangs who improve to 5-1.

Effingham St. Anthony took two wins over Jasper County Tuesday.
The Bullpups won the seventh-grade game, 27-21. St. Anthony held a 14-12 first half lead then had a 13-9 second half.
Geen led the winners with nine points. Jasper County was led by Schafer with 11.
In eighth-grade play, St. Anthony picked up a 29-20 win.
The Bullpups held a 20-10 lead going into the final quarter. Fearday scored nine for the winners. Jasper County was led by Hetzek with six.

Effingham Sacred Heart split wins with Mattoon in seventh and eighth-grade play Tuesday.
Mattoon won the seventh-grade contest, 8-6. Beason scored six of the winners eight points. Zeigler scored all six of the Shamrocks points.
In eighth-grade play, the Shamrocks won 22-1. Helmink tallied 10 points for the winners.

Stewardson-Strasburg and Teutopolis split wins in action Tuesday.
Stew-Stras claimed the seventh-grade contest, 23-12, leading 11-6 at halftime and running off a 10-2 third quarter.
Wernsing tallied 11 while Kinkelaar added eight for the winners. T-town was led by Althoff with five.
In the eighth-grade game, Teutopolis B nabbed a 27-18 victory. The Shoes led 13-12 at halftime then had a 10-2 third quarter.
Teutopolis B was led by Wall with six and Mette with five.
Kinkelaar was led by Kinkelaar with 10 points.
