Effingham Junior High School picked up two victories over Mattoon in girls basketball competition Tuesday.

The Mustangs won the seventh-grade contest, 32-27. Effingham led 23-7 at halftime. Niebrugge tallied eight points while Boone added seven and Moser six in even scoring.

In the eighth-grade game, Effingham won 39-17. Marissa Allie and Ella Niebrugge provided the one-two scoring punch for the Mustangs with 12 and 11 points respectively.

EJHS is 2-0 on the season.

At Neoga

Effingham St. Anthony picked up two victories over Neoga in competition Tuesday.

The Bullpups won the seventh-grade game, 47-17. St. Anthony led 31-9 at halftime. M. Kibler led the Bullpups with 16 points.

Neoga was led by Eaton and Sampson with four points each.

In the eighth-grade contest, St. Anthony was a 29-21 winner. St. Anthony held a three-point lead at halftime and pushed that to 26-13 going into the final quarter with an 11-1 run. Neoga rallied with an 8-3 final period only to fall short.

Schwing led the winners with 10 points. Neoga was led by Richards and Campbell with seven each.

At Louisville

North Clay (Louisville) nabbed two victories over Stewardson-Strasburg in action Tuesday.

North Clay was a 42-29 winner in seventh-grade play. Ballard tallied 25 for the winners. Wernsing led Stew-Stras with 10 as the team dropped to 0-1 in the National Trail Conference, 1-1 overall.

In eighth-grade play, North Clay won 42-11. Ballard tallied 15 while seven other players contributed points.

Stew-Stras was led by Kinkelaar with seven points as the Stars drop to 0-1 in the NTC, 0-2 overall.

At Cowden

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City was an easy winner in both seventh and eighth-grade action Tuesday.

CHBC won the seventh-grade contest 22-13 to improve to 2-0 on the season. Ruby Stuckemeyer tallied seven points for the winners.

In eighth-grade action, CHBC won 39-8. CHBC took a 27-3 halftime lead. Gracie Heckert scored 17 and  Mady Wojcik 11 for the winners who improve to 2-0.

Teutopolis took the seventh and eighth-grade wins over South Central Tuesday.

In seventh-grade play, the Wooden Shoes won 34-6. Sara Niemerg and Erin Althoff had eight points each for the winners.

The eighth-grade contest went to T-town, 25-21. K. Kremer scored 16 for the winners. Soutth Central was led by Arnold with 10.

Altamont defeated Dieterich in both seventh and eighth grade action Tuesday.

Altamont won the seventh-grade game, 37-19. Grace Nelson talleid 12 points and Skylie Klein seven for the winners. Dieterich was led by Meinhart with six.

In the eighth-grade contest, Dieterich was a 42-28 winner. Dieterich held a 24-12 halftime lead.

Kalianna Becker had 12 points while Nelson had 11 and Remington Miller 10. Dieterich was led by C. Brummer with seven.
